Here in Missouri, I am close to the path of the soon coming total solar eclipse happening on April 8th, 2024. Anytime a major astronomical event like this happens, there are always dramatic apocalyptic posts that appear all across especially social media and other internet channels. So the question is, are they accurate?
In the gospels there are several verses quoting Jesus, in the end times chapters, related to signs in the heavens, the moon turning to blood, the sun darkening etc. For example see Luke 21:25-26. And many of these verses are actually AFTER the tribulation period. See Mark 13:24, Matt. 24:29. Also there is one passage by Peter preaching on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:19-21.
HERE’S WHAT’S IMPORTANT! I believe ALL these passages are speaking of *SUPERNATURAL* things that will happen specifically *THEN* during those times. Luke mentions widespread men’s hearts failing them because of fear. I don’t think we’ll see that in this coming eclipse!
So, to properly understand the coming eclipse, it is simply ANOTHER total solar eclipse just like those that have been GOING ON as far back as we have records, AND they occur on a SYSTEMATIC basis that is ENTIRELY predictable. They are not prophetic.
Also, I believe Jesus’ signs will be world-wide. These natural events like the coming eclipse are very localized and seen in narrow locations. So someone in another country or even another state might not even see it, and they also happen regularly in other countries that we never see!
Bottom line here… there is NO biblical spiritual meaning about the end times in this eclipse! AVOID the sensational posts and fads!
To be sure, PEOPLE declare eclipses like this have some special meaning of doom and gloom (or some cultures have actually seen them foretelling blessings), but the Scriptures speak only to SUPERNATURAL things in the heavens as having prophetic significance. This is simply another eclipse.
